WIS 29 (Sunrise Dr.-Business 51 Interchange) - Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Are bicycle and pedestrian accommodations being considered for Sunrise Drive?

Proposed improvements include new pavement marking on the bridge, installation of a fence on the parapet walls and widening the shoulders on the approaches to improve existing bicycle and pedestrian accommodations.

Will new right of way be required?

A highway easement, from the Wisconsin Central Ltd. railroad, has been acquired to accommodate the new multi-use path along southbound Business 51 from West Grand Avenue to the eastbound ramp terminal.

When will construction begin and how long will it take?

Construction of westbound WIS 29 began in May 2014 and will extend into 2015. Construction of eastbound WIS 29 is anticipated to begin in 2015 and extend into 2016. The entire project is anticipated for completion by May 2017

The proposed improvements to the Sunrise Drive structure will be completed June through August 2014.
