Local recovery projects - approval and delivery

Metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs)

Once WisDOT establishes the eligibility of projects, it works with the MPO and others to set priorities and establish a list of projects to utilize Recovery Act funds.

Joint Finance Committee approval required

Wisconsin Act 2 requires the Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to submit projects to the Joint Committee on Finance before allocating any federal transportation aid received by the state.

Lettings

WisDOT set special letting dates for state and local economic recovery projects on:

• April 28, 2009
• May 27, 2009
• June 23, 2009
• July 28, 2009

Contractors interested in bidding on an economic recovery project must follow the normal prequalification process and other established deadlines and processes for the special letting dates. For more information, consult the Highway Construction Contract Information (HCCI) Web site.

For updated lists of project awards from the special letting dates, review the FY09 Contract Log . This log is continually updated to reflect new awards and lettings.

Contract administration

WisDOT’s roadway standards Web site provides up-to-date information for the contract administration of Recovery Act projects at: http://roadwaystandards.dot.wi.gov/standards/arra/index.htm

The Recovery Act requires that all project funds must be “obligated” by March 10, 2010, or the funds will be redistributed to other states.
