Zoo Interchange - public involvement

The Zoo Interchange environmental and engineering analysis will include a full and continuous public involvement process to give all stakeholders many opportunities to contribute to the project. The study began in mid-2007. WisDOT is creating a database to identify affected stakeholders and can meet with groups and constituents to discuss current information about the interchange to discuss the study. Visit www.sefreeways.org for information and links to all freeway projects in southeast Wisconsin, including the Marquette Interchange project and the I-94 North-South Corridor study.

WisDOT is also currently working on a traffic impact analysis (TIA) in the area around the Milwaukee County Research Park and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. Contact WisDOT for more information about this analysis.

Public information meetings (PIM)

Scheduled

  • There are no scheduled meetings to report on at this time.

Past meetings

  • May 29, 2008 - A PIM was held in Wauwatosa.
  • May 21, 2008 - A PIM was held in West Allis.
  • January 23, 2008 - WisDOT conducted a public design workshop at the State Fair Park, Tommy Thompson Youth Center in West Allis.
  • January 17, 2008 - WisDOT conducted a public design workshop at the Zoofari Conference Center in Milwaukee.

    • More than 320 people attended the two public design workshops in January.

      Residents and community leaders shared their thoughts about ramp locations, congestion issues and local road considerations. The study team is using these comments and ideas to help develop alternatives to improve the interchange.
