Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
In the 1960’s an EIS was developed to discuss the US 14 corridor,
future expansion needs for the
immediate community, alternatives available, and the environmental impacts associated to each
alternative discussed. Based on development of the completed EIS, the US 14 alignment was selected.
The US 14 corridors discussed in the EIS extended to the Dane and Rock County limits.
As required in the public involvement procedures, meetings have been
held with local officials and the
public to ensure the results of the original EIS are still applicable to today’s residents and environment as
WisDOT moves ahead with the US 14 corridor projects.
WisDOT projects and construction sometimes change the natural environment around a project area. To minimize the effects of road construction and development WisDOT works to reduce change to the natural environment and leads several efforts to restore project areas.
