US 51, Stoughton Rd. Corridor Study - Short-term improvements

The WisDOT corridor management team, along with the advisory committees, is working to identify and implement improvements that will enhance safety and improve traffic flow until major infrastructure improvements are finalized and funded.

Planned improvements

WisDOT and other agencies in the corridor have several projects in the development phase that will enhance the functioning of Stoughton Rd. and improve pedestrian and bicycle access.

  • 2014
    • Pflaum Rd. intersection - Install signal heads mounted on monotube arms over each through traffic lane on US 51. This should help reduce the significant number of rear-end crashes and improve the overall safety of the intersection.
    • Buckeye road intersection - Install signal heads mounted on monotube arms over each through traffic lane on US 51. This should help reduce the significant number of rear-end crashes and improve the overall safety of the intersection.
  • 2015/2016
    • Cottage Grove Rd. Bridge (SB lanes of US 51) - Bridge will be widened and the deceleration lane for the off-ramp will be extended.
