US 18 Bluemound Road project - schedule

February 2007	Business meetings with chamber of commerce.
March 2007	Begin final design.

Spring 2008	PIM #3.
Spring 2008	Begin construction.

Construction staging

US 18 (Bluemound Road) will be constructed in four stages beginning in spring 2008:

Stage one: Moorland Road to Calhoun Road
Stage two: Calhoun Road to Brookfield Road
Stage three: Brookfield Road to Barker Road
Stage four: Various sections of the bus lane

The lane closest to the median will be closed in one-mile increments during the first three stages of construction. During this time the bus lane will also operate as a normal thru lane but will still carry right turning vehicles and buses making required stops.

The fourth stage will close various sections of the bus lane to complete driveway work and right turn islands.

Updates since last mailing:

Completed the Bluemound Road Plan Set (August 1, 2007).
Designed an interconnection between the Volkswagen dealership and Lexus dealership (July 2007).
Designed small modifications to the Applebee’s parking lot (July 2007).
Reconfigured the Menards access driveway (July 2007).
Designed small modifications to the Pedro’s Mexican Restaurant / V Richard’s parking lot (July 2007).
Extended the westbound left turn lane at Janacek Road (July 2007).
Extended the westbound left turn lane at Brookfield Road. (July 2007)
Removed the new driveway alignment for the M&I Bank / Veterinarian Hospital. Shifted the left turn into M&I Bank / Veterinarian Hospital to the existing east driveway (June 2007).
Reconfigured the northbound to eastbound right turn lane on Barker Road (May 2007).
Added a left in to North Shore Bank (May 8, 2007)
Added sidewalk on the northwest corner of Brookfield Road (April 2007).
Removed interconnections from Kmart to AT&T on Woelfel Drive (April 10, 2007)
Separated the dual restricted median near Elizabeth Court (March 22, 2007)
Separated the dual restricted median near Regency Court (March 22, 2007)
Added a left in at Fiserv Drive and shifted the left into Kmart to the western driveway. (March 22, 2007)
Shifted Monsoon left in to the eastern driveway (March 22, 2007)
Added a left in for Brookfield Lakes frontage road (March 22, 2007)
Shifted the left turn into Caribou Coffee strip mall to the west property line and added a connection across the VK Development property to the frontage road connected to Corporate Drive (March 22, 2007)
Switched the gas station driveway closure from Bluemound to Calhoun due to the City's Calhoun project limiting truck access (February 14, 2007)
Shifted the M&I Bank left in to the western driveway, added a connection from the animal hospital driveway to the Liberty Center property line, and removing the connection on the south side of Bluemound from M&I to Dechant Road (February 14, 2007)
Updated the alignment of the Eble Park connection to Janacek.
Updated the alignment of the Kopps/Galleria West frontage road relocation.
Removed interconnection at Speedway Inn.
Removed interconnection at McDonald’s per owner (January 25, 2007)
Removed driveway interconnection at Harvard Square per owner (January 25, 2007)
Removed right turn lanes at the Barker/Bluemound intersection due to real estate timeframe (January 9, 2007)
Removed Quality Inn connection to Panos per owner (December 13, 2006)
Removed Bartz’s Party Supply interconnection to adjoining parking lots per owner (November 20, 2006)
Removed connection between Executive and Dechant per public feedback (November 16, 2006)
Removed driveway interconnection at Animal Hospital per owner (November 16, 2006)
