Project overview

  • Overall project is 3.2 miles long
  • Intersection mainly used by motorists traveling between Washburn/Bayfield area and city of Ashland
  • This intersection has been modified several times over the last 35 years with high injury and fatality crash rates high
  • Project to provide a safer and more efficient roadway, with either new signals or a roundabout anticipated, to help reduce the crash rates
  • WIS 13 is on the National Highway System (NHS) and serves as a major north-south route through the area
  • US 2 is a 2020 Connector Route on the Wisconsin State Highway System and serves as a major east/west route.
  • Estimated construction costs are $1.9 million for the roundabout option.

Status/phase

Construction started Apr. 2012 with construction scheduled to be completed Sept. 2012.
