Public hearings

Public hearings are usually held on federal-aid highway projects involving:

  • The acquisition of significant amounts of right of way
  • Substantial changes to the layout or function of connecting roadways or of the facility being improved
  • Projects that may have a significant impact on adjacent properties

A public hearing was held in August 2002.

Local government

Project coordination with all municipalities was initiated on July 26, 1999. Coordination continued throughout the corridor planning process.

Early in the project development process, a meeting was held with local government representatives. The purpose of the meeting was to explain the project objectives, discuss the scope and schedule, and to obtain information on local land use issues and concerns. Representatives of the village of Ashwaubenon, city of De Pere, city of Green Bay, village of Howard, town of Lawrence, and Brown County attended the meeting.

Prior to the each of the public information meetings, a joint meeting was held with local government representatives to discuss the project. The project team met twice with each local government entity separately to discuss the various interchange alternatives.

There was a local officials meeting held in 2005 to update local governments on the US 41 expansion project's overview and schedule.
