US 51 central segment - Stoughton Road traffic impacts

A major component of the alternatives analysis has included traffic modeling of existing and future conditions. Modeling included both demand and operations. Demand modeling consists of traffics' desired paths and destinations. Operations modeling determines the quality of the route traveled.

Level of service

Level of service is a quantitative measure that refers to the overall quality of flow at an intersection ranging from LOS A to LOS F where traffic is extremely restricted, many times experiencing gridlock. LOS D/E is considered the lowest acceptable rating for an intersection.

With the increased traffic volumes projected under future conditions, several signalized Stoughton Road intersections will deteriorate into LOS D, E, or F. The chart illustrates the anticipated congestion levels in the p.m. peak-hour today and in 2030, under the various alternative scenarios.

Travel times

Travel times along the corridor will change from 2002 conditions to 2030 under Alternatives A, B and C. Travel times by auto for the whole corridor can be viewed for northbound or southbound trips:

Travel times for segments of the corridor can also be viewed by northbound and southbound trips:
