WIS 172 Resurfacing Project (US 41 - I-43) - need/purpose

The WIS 172 Resurfacing Project (US 41 - I-43) is needed due to the pavement distress that has occurred. Maintenance is needed to repair the existing roadway and provide a better travel surface for several years to come.

The project is scheduled for 2008-2010 to ensure that maintenance needs on this highway are minimized during the US 41 construction, as WIS 172 will serve as a vital alternate route to alleviate traffic congestion on US 41.

The project repairs and resurfaces the existing roadway from US 41 to I-43, replaces the deck on the Fox River Bridge, replaces the bridges over Oneida Street, and rehabilitates nearly all bridges on the project.

This project means that the travel on WIS 172 will be smoother and function better when completed. The highway will be a vital alternate route during the US 41 construction.
