Crash facts

Preventing traffic crashes - especially those that cause deaths and injuries - is the main focus of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's (WisDOT) safety efforts. Even one preventable traffic fatality is one too many.

Why are people dying?
Too many people in Wisconsin are still not wearing their safety belts. Alcohol plays a role in a large number of fatal crashes. Speeding contributes to far too many highway deaths.

What can you do?
The biggest factor in traffic crashes is human behavior and decision-making. WisDOT can't control that. It's up to you to make responsible decisions that could save your life and the lives of others.
