Buckle Up or Pay the Price

Buckle Up or Pay the Price

Wisconsin is getting serious about safety belts.

"BUCKLE UP Or Pay the Price" combines traffic enforcement and education to urge all Wisconsin motorists and passengers, particularly those in their teens and early 20s, to wear their safety belts. The price of not buckling up could be more than you want to pay.

  • State law requires you to wear a safety belt.
  • Not doing so could cost you a ticket, or your life.
  • If you are pulled over by a law enforcement officer and are not buckled up, you will be ticketed. No excuses.
  • Young drivers and passengers are among those who buckle up the least in Wisconsin.
  • Drivers and passengers who aren't wearing safety belts are dying in great numbers in crashes.
  • If you are not wearing a safety belt and you crash, you will most likely be thrown from the safety of the vehicle, seriously injured, and possibly killed.
  • Law enforcement agencies across the state are aiming to save lives, by enforcing Wisconsin's mandatory safety belt and child safety seat laws.
  • "Buckle Up or Pay the Price" means we should all buckle up. That means you, your passengers, and your children.
  • Why pay the ultimate price, just because you didn't take a moment to wear your safety belt?
