Rustic Road 65

Location:  Ozaukee County. R65 is between Wauwatosa Road and Granville Road in he City of Mequon.

Length:  2 miles

Surface:  Gravel

Hawthorne Road is the only gravel road currently left in the City of Mequon. Many oak, maple and weeping willow trees line more than half the road and provide a canopy in the summer and a blaze of color in the fall. The remaining open land along R65 is under cultivation or is pasture land for horses and sheep. This provides for pleasant agricultural vistas. The area surrounding the road is habitat for a variety of wildlife including deer, rabbits, hawks, and songbirds. It is a road that is popular with hikers, bikers, equestrians and motorists.
