How to travel easy in Wisconsin

Dear Traveler,

Whether you take the road less traveled or the Interstate highway system, I hope you enjoy your journeys throughout "America's Dairyland." The maps in this brochure provide information that will help make you an informed traveler, giving you advance warning of some of the major highway construction projects in Wisconsin and letting you know where our rest areas and waysides are located.

Keeping our highways safe, inviting, and easy for you to use is a top priority in Wisconsin so we want you to be aware of work zones that may have the potential to cause traffic back ups, lanes to narrow, or where there may be detours, so you can decide whether to stick to your planned course, or take a scenic alternate route.

In addition to this brochure, further information on work zones is available by calling 1-800-ROAD WIS or by logging on to www.dot.wisconsin.gov and clicking on "Travel Information."

Your safety is our number one priority, but you can help by slowing down and merging early when you see the first signs of work zones ahead. By having a little patience, being a courteous driver, and by following the instructions printed on signs or given by flaggers, you'll make it safely through. Be aware that there may be narrow lanes, uneven pavement, and stop-and-go traffic within work zones. Remember also that fines are doubled if you're ticketed in a work zone.

We know work zones are an inconvenience and can add travel time, but by being fully alert when approaching and driving through work zones, everyone can get where they're going safely.

Enjoy your visit to Wisconsin, and "Travel Easy!"
